Ubaldo Jimenez threw his final extended spring training today. He touched 87 on his changeup and 97 on his fastball. He will be activated on April 17th, and will start April 18th against the San Francisco Giants. What makes this matchup so intriguing is who he'll face. You guessed it - the freak himself, Tim Lincecum. The game today is still in jeopardy, however. It's still cold and wet, and field conditions at Citi Field have yet to be approved. If the Rockies play the last three games of their series against the Mets, they'll need a spot start, and either Clayton Mortenson or Alan Johnson, both from AAA Colorado Springs, are prime candidates. Mortenson is on the 40-man roster, so it'd be easier to call him up. A lot will be determined if the teams can get the rest of their three games in this week.
To the lineups - Dexter Fowler is being held out once again in order to preserve him for the doubleheader tomorrow.
Programming Note: The early game of the doubleheader tomorrow will be aired on the MLB Networ at 10:10am MT. The nightcap will not be televised in the Denver market.
